Guideway Protection

Folded Bellows – Heat-Sealed Construction

Heat-sealed folded bellows are a type of guideway protection cover made from a single sheet of thermoplastic-coated fabric. The material is pleated and then heat-welded to a PVC stiffener at each fold, forming a sealed barrier. This construction style is commonly used to protect linear rails, ball screws, and other motion components from dust, small particles, light abrasives, occasional oil, chips, or liquids.

Depending on application, these bellows can typically be produced without stitched holes or seams. They are available in a variety of shapes to suit different machine configurations, including the protection of guideways, ball screws, and linear rails.

For enhanced protection against sparks and chips, lamellas (stainless steel shields) can be added to the top of each convolution, converting a heat-sealed bellows into a lamella-style bellows.
