Hybrid Cable Carrier

A Long Travel Solution for Plastic Carriers that Eliminates Guide Troughs

Dynatect’s patented Hybrid carrier solution offers the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) of any other long travel carrier solution. It requires less space and averages 50% less installation time than standard long travel systems with guide troughs. The Hybrid Travel Support System is the evolution of 50 years of experience. Its unique, patented design consists of a modular plastic carrier with a metallic insert, delivering a truly revolutionary solution for long travel cable and hose management.

Dynatect’s long travel cable carriers are ideal for many applications including robot transfer units, large machining centers, gantry robots, plasma and flame cutters, CNC drilling, automated welding, CNC burn tables, transfer systems, gantry cranes, and high-speed sawmill equipment.

The Hybrid carrier option is available for the Nylatrac Modular line:

Hybrid models are denoted with the letter ‘H’ (HTS, HTL, HNXL).

Key Advantages

For comparably sized systems, the Hybrid Long Travel Support System features:

  • Lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) than any long travel carrier solution
  • Eliminates up to 50% of the force required to push and pull in most applications
  • Less space required than any long travel carrier solution
  • Up to 2X unsupported travel than any plastic carrier solution
  • 50% less average installation time than long travel systems with guide troughs
  • Price 10% less than long travel systems with guide troughs
  • The only long travel carrier solution that eliminates:
    • Guide troughs and associated installation and maintenance costs
    • Glide shoes; wear blocks; integral or mechanically actuated rollers
    • Push plates, rail extenders, and modified tow arm and mounting requirements
    • Wear and tow force spikes from alignment/failure of the above accessories
  • Capable of operating speeds up to 5 ft/sec
  • Reduces retracted storage area
  • Allows for greater acceleration than traditional gliding long travel solutions
  • Significantly improves safety factors in high-tow-force applications
  • Eliminates up to 50% of the weight of a combined plastic carrier and trough in most applications

FAQs

Product Scope

  • Which models are available in the Hybrid Carrier Series?
TS, TL & NXL sizes (HTS, HTL, HNXL)
  • What speeds can the Hybrid system support?
Up to 5ft/second standard – Consult factory if speeds exceed 5 ft/second
  • How much weight can a Hybrid system support?
Hybrid Carrier load-carrying capacity is dependent on the required travel and unsupported span. Please see the load charts on this page (tab labeled Load Charts).
  • How much do the Hybrid Models weigh per foot of carrier?
    HTS: AP 10.22 LBS/FT; AF 8.59 LBS/FT; PL 8.80 LBS/FT
    HTL: AP 13.14 LBS/FT; AF 10.83 LBS/FT; PL 11.00 LBS/FT
    HNXL: AP 19.34 LBS/FT; AF 15.26 LBS/FT

Benefits

  • What does a Hybrid system cost?
    • 10% Less than a traditional track and trough system.
    • The hybrid system eliminates the expense of purchasing and installing Guide Troughs, which are required for the entire length of travel on traditional track/trough systems.
    • In the non-opposed center or offset applications, the additional cost/complexity of a raised UHMW (Igus), Roller (Gleason), or raised platform/shallow trough section (Gortrac and Kabelschlepp) is required for travel forward of the fixed end.
  • How is installing a Hybrid system easier than installing a track and trough?
    • The Hybrid system does not require a full trough installation.
    • Only simple support/guidance is required in the retracted area.
    • In the extended area, no support/guidance is required.
  • How does a Hybrid system reduce the retracted storage area?
The elimination of the lowered mounting height requirement reduces the depot area/length.

Application

  • In what applications would a Hybrid system be specified vs. a traditional steel track?
Hybrid systems are designed to be applied in applications where speeds exceed those recommended for traditional steel track.
  • In what applications would a Hybrid system be specified vs. a traditional plastic track?
Hybrid systems are designed to be applied in applications where unsupported spans are exceeded in traditional plastic track.
  • What is the shortest application a Hybrid system would be applied?
The Hybrid can be used in any application where the unsupported span of a standard carrier is exceeded.
  • Are solid models available?
Consult the factory for drawings as needed.
